How We Rate RVs
Recommended Towing Vehicle: (Travel Trailers)
This gives you some idea of how to match a towing vehicle to a trailer. The recommendations include small truck, van, or sedan; 1/2-ton truck or van; 3/4-ton or van; 1-ton truck; and medium-duty truck. Our database uses the GVWR as a basis for the recommendation, taking the average hitch weight into consideration. If, however, you determine that you will never load close to the limit of the trailer (GVWR), you could determine an adequate towing vehicle by using the maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) that you anticipate.
