RV Advisory:  Ratings Tell the Story

Whenever you go to a dealership or a manufacturing plant to have a recall item repaired, be absolutely sure you understand what and why it is being recalled. When you make an appointment, get as much information as you can in advance - and when you reach the service department, be sure to query whoever is responsible for the repair about what they will be doing and what area of the motor home it is into. If the item to be repaired or replaced happens to be underneath the dash or anywhere in the electrical system, for example, you should know what other items are being removed to access the repair or the replaced item.

Please keep in mind that some manufacturers and dealerships use recalls as a method of getting you to authorize other services or inspections. We recommend, if possible, that you forego any repairs or inspections that are not on your need-to-do list and can be done later. In the past, we have received complaints of having more problems after the recall - and we find out it is usually in the vicinity of the item repaired or replaced.
